Description

King Steering Stabilizers are uniquely valved to work evenly in both directions to prevent unnecessary strain on your steering system and feature an internal floating piston (IFP) to separate the nitrogen pressure from the oil and smaller diameter shafts to reduce shaft pressure. Other than their unique piston head and valves, these steering stabilizers are built with the same parts and to the same specifications as King's performance racing shocks. They are designed to handle the load of oversize tires and are fully serviceable, rebuildable, and tunable to last a lifetime.

Standard Sizes and Options
King's steering stabilizers feature a full 2.0 shock body cylinder, unique OD top cap, internal floating piston (IFP) and 1/2" shaft for precise tuning and control. They are available with 6, 8, and 10 inches of shaft travel to work with most popular and custom applications and can be valved for single stabilizer applications or dual opposing configurations that offer amazing self-centering characteristics.

Shock Specifications
Filthy Motorsports offers the following sizes of King steering stabilizers:

Compressed and extended shock lengths are measured from eye-to-eye.

Inflation Adapter: King steering stabilizers use a custom internal valve core design so a King Inflation Adapter (sold separately) is required for pressure adjustments or service. Steering stabilizers ship charged to the proper pressure and generally do not need to be checked or adjusted until service is required.

Custom Built and Valved by King Racing
Most steering stabilizers that you'll find on-line or in a catalog come with generic valving. If you get one that is too stiff, it will put an unnecessary strain on your steering system while one that isn't strong enough will have no effect at all. That is why, just like all King shocks we offer, these steering stabilizers are custom built to your needs. Tell us as much as you can about your application and we'll work directly with King to valve them specifically for your vehicle.

Servicing, Tuning, and Rebuilding
King steering stabilizers are completely serviceable, tunable, and rebuildable with simple hand tools. We offer the full range of replacement parts for King shocks and keep a majority of them in stock and ready to go. This way, if you ever decide to upgrade to larger tires and need a stiffer stabilizer, all you need to do is change the valve shims. Filthy Motorsports will gladly send you the parts for you to do the work yourself, or you can bring us (or send us) your shocks and we'll service them for you.

5 of 5 Great Investment October 24, 2022
Reviewer: Thomas from Toledo, OH
I put the dampener on today. I have my suspension and front end very dialed in at least for the road, all heavy duty no play whatsoever. I didn't think it could be improved, my Jeep drove and handled like a sports car. The first second I drove my Jeep after the dampener was installed it was the icing on the cake. My steering is so smooooth and consistent throughout the range. A good stabilizer won’t fix anything but on a very dialed in suspension, it’s the nth degree of refinement. I’m glad I invested in King.

5 of 5 Impressive Improvement for RVs May 4, 2018
Reviewer: Paul from CO
The usual stabilizer application in compact cars and SUVs reduces the impact of the road into the steering system. A stabilizer can also reduce vibrations caused by worn out joints, tie rod ends, and bearings. Large, boxy vehicles like motorhomes with heavy engines have additional steering problems with heavy side winds and long rear overhangs behind the rear axle.
My motorhome is 32 feet long and the overhang behind the rear axle is 11 feet. At 9 feet tall, the tail has a very large cross section that, in a cross wind of 30 MPH, equals a side force of over 400 pounds that attempts to turn (pivot) the front of the motorhome. Correcting such forces through the steering wheel is demanding on its own, but that's not all. Additional corrections must be made to deal with sudden wind interruptions when passing buildings, underpasses, and semi-trucks.
I installed a pair of King 2.0 x 12" steering stabilizers with custom valving and mounted them against each other (opposed). Each shock absorber is pressurized, which makes it biased against compression. The opposed configuration compensates the bias, creating a center balanced setup the effectively self-centers the motorhome. I found the stabilizers to be a huge improvement. Driving between 60 to 70 MPH, road conditions, wind, and traffic disruptions feel much more controlled and sudden movements and erratic directional changes have become much easier to correct and dampened at the steering wheel.
Overall, I would highly recommend these steering stabilizers to anyone and everyone with a motorhome, RV, or large truck.
