We discovered the Clamptite Clamp Making Tool at the 2010 SEMA Show and we immediately bought one for ourselves. The Clamptite tool takes any metal wire and turns it into a clamp that is stronger, cheaper, less obtrusive, and better looking than any hose clamp. In addition to making clamps for hoses, the Clamptite tool can be used to fix equipment, make heavy duty electrical connections, and is the ultimate emergency tool for off-roading, camping, hiking, or sailing.

Clamptite Tools are Available in Four Sizes:

Compact Clamptite tools use a wing nut handle to fit into small spaces or to allow for more precise wire tensioning. They have a maximum recommended wire size of 1/16" that makes them perfect for camping, fishing, or emergency use. Standard Clamptite tool models have a bronze handle for extra leverage and allow for the use of up to a 1/8" thick wire. This is the most popular size tool and is a must have item for off-roading because, in an emergency, it can make a clamp from coat hangers or barbed wire. Medium Clamptite clamp making tools are designed for heavy duty applications and use a hex nut end so they can be tightened with a wrench or socket. Rated for extra high tension 1/8" wire the medium size Calmptite tool is ideal for mechanics or manufacturing use. Large Clamptite models are made to handle the biggest jobs and can work with wire up to 1/4" thick wire. Common uses include fence posts, sail boat masts, boat docks, telephone poles, and other industrial applications.

Style 1 - Standard strength clamps are created by first wrapping your wire around the item(s) and attaching one end to the lower bars of the Clamptite tool and wrapping the other end to the upper set of bars. Next, tighten the wire by turning the tool's handle (wing nut, or hex nut on some models) until the wire is pulled tight. Once the desired tension is achieved, simply rotate the tool 180 degrees and cut off the excess wire.
Style 2 - Extra strength clamps are twice as strong as single wrap clamps and are created in a very similar manner. Start by folding the wire in half and wrapping it around the item(s) and pulling the loose ends through the loop. Place the nose of the Clamptite tool on the inside of the wire loop and wrap the loose ends around the upper bar of the tool. Tension the wire by turning the handle (wing nut or hex nut on some models) until the desired tension is achieved. Finally, fold the tool over the wire loop and cut off the excess.
