Important Vehicle Specific Notes and Recommendations

Toyota 100 Series Land Cruisers are the first to move to an independent front suspension for improved road manners and are an excellent platforms for daily driving, off-roading, expedition use, and even some desert racing. Each of these applications require a different suspension setup so Filthy Motorsports will work with you directly to make sure your suspension package is configured correctly. With that in mind, there are a few important things we need to consider when building a well tuned suspension system:

1. The front suspension utilizes torsion bar springs instead of coil springs or coilovers which allows for very easy ride height adjustments by turning the torsion bar key bolts. It is common for people to over-crank the torsion bars and lift the front end too high resulting in poor performance and ride quality. Filthy Motorsports recommends using a proper torsion key leveling kit and adjusting the front end no higher than 2.5" of lift over average stock height.

2.
Avoid adding heavy weight to the front end if possible. With an independent front suspension, the front socks are leverage 2:1 and the torsion springs are leveraged 5:1 on the lower control arms. Adding a 150lb. bumper and/or winch combination up front is the most that we recommend for good performance on the factory torsion bars.

3. Aftermarket upper control arms are required for lift heights 1.5" and above for a proper alignment.

4. For LX470 models with air ride rear suspension, we recommend a coil spring conversion for more consistent ride quality and better performance. These King rear shocks are compatible with both air bag and coil rear springs.

5 of 5 Nothing rides like a King! January 31, 2018
Reviewer: Hamad from Qatar
I can’t stress how happy I am with the tire movement that the king shocks on my lc100 allow at low speeds and racing through the desert. The Icons I had before were just horrible and rode nothing like the King equipped lc100. Thank you!
