Selecting the Right Sway Bar
In order to best fit your application, we offer both 1" and 1.25" diameter sway bars in standard lengths ranging from 32 to 43 inches with solid or hollow bars and 17" arms that can be drilled to an effective length of up to 15 inches. Because many of these elements are adjustable and each one impacts the others as well as the overall performance of the sway bar, here is how Filthy Motorsports suggests that you select your sway bar:

Step 1:	Start by finding the overall sway bar length you need while keeping in mind that the sway bar arms are 3/4" wide and mount flush at the outermost ends of the sway bar. You will also need to leave room for the sway bar links which are typically mounted outside of the arms but can also be mounted inboard if needed. A sway bar that is 6 to 8 inches longer than the overall width of the the frame so that it sticks out 3 to 4 inches on each side works well in most cases.
Step 2:	Next, decide on a sway bar diameter. 1" OD sway bars work great for most Jeeps, SUVs, and small trucks while 1.25" OD sway bars are the right choice for full size trucks and large buggies. Remember that bars of the same diameter are very easy to change for tuning purposes but changing bar diameters requires new bushings, arms, and locating collars.
Step 3:	Using the sway bar force chart below, find the table that contains the specs for the length of sway bar you selected in step one. Find the rate that you think will work best for your application under the 13" arm column (*see tuning and installation sections below) and identify the corresponding wall thickness in the first column. If you end up on a solid 1" bar or a .095" 1.25" bar, you will want to be sure that your selection is right because changing between bar diameters requires all new components.
Tuning:	To allow for custom installations and fine tuning, our sway bar arms do not come pre-drilled. For most applications, we recommend taking advantage of the full 17" length and drilling several holes along the arm so you can easily experiment with different leverage points. The further away your links are from the center of the bar, the softer the bar will act and vice versa.
Installation:	While the best place to mount your sway bar is such that the sway bar arms are as close to horizontal as possible with the sway bar links dropping vertically down to their mounting points with the vehicle sitting at ride height, this placement isn't always a possibility. The placement of the sway bar isn't as important as making sure it has a clear range of motion, however, it is important to remember that the further away the forces are from perpendicular, the less effective the sway bar will become so you may need a stronger bar or shorter arms.
